At Amici, under the red light glow, you will find some of the most amazing pasta dishes, best service, and a great atmosphere in little Italy. Unlike the other Italian restaurant I have been to on this journey, The selection at Amici is a lot more directed towards pasta dishes and "fancier" aspect of Italian cuisine.

MENU

Amici offers a huge selection of different kinds of meals, appetizers, and desserts. As for appetizers, you could have calamari, seafood, risotto, meatballs, prosciutto and other sorts of meats and cheese all made with the best quality ingredients. Then the menu moves on to pizzas. The menu then moves onto salads and then finally main dishes. Pasta is the first of the main dishes with a different dishes ranging from lasagna to tortellini to spaghetti. Meat is next on the menu where all the plates are served with fries with sea salt and grilled vegetables. Risotto comes next then a fish section, a kids menu and finally desserts. They have typical Italian desserts such as cannoli's, tiramisu, crème brûlée, gelato

LASAGNA

We ordered the lasagna with double meat sauce, I believe meats that were incorporated into the sauce was veal and beef. Coming from an Italian who constantly has homemade Italian dishes, I found this to taste very homemade. The pasta "noodles" we're very soft and thick which made me believe that they were not coming from a package and possibly were fresh. There also wasn't a lot of cheese on the top but rather incorporated throughout the noodles and meat and this gave for not one bite in particular to have more cheese than the other it was all event which I appreciated.

TORTELLINNI

We decided to get the tortellini as it wasn't the typical spaghetti and meatballs and is a less raved about Italian pasta dish. We also decided to get rosée sauce to have a variety instead of simply having the meat sauce. The meat inside the tortellini's was very soft and almost seemed as if it was a paste this means that the meat was very well mixed with the seasonings and very well grounded and cooked. The rosée sauce was very sweet as it usually is and was a lot creamier than plain tomato or meat sauce. It left a very nice taste inside your mouth and enhanced the flavors of the meat and the tortellini itself. The pasta was very soft and easy to chew, most store-bought tortellini is our very rough and difficult to bite which I don't like this further proves my theory that it was homemade rather than store-bought.

PENNE

The last dish that we ordered was the penne with rosée sauce. Once again the rosée sauce was very creamy and sweet but as for the pasta the penne was a lot tougher and more dense, which was also a good thing is as I appreciated the variety between softer and harder pasta. We added grated cheese to this one, therefore, added a simple hint of cheesy flavor. There were also mushrooms which were a lot softer than the pasta which added a variety of texture as well which I really enjoyed.

OVERALL

Overall I really did enjoy this restaurant. I feel like it would be a perfect place to host a party or come on a romantic date or even just with the family, the atmosphere in this place with the Italian music playing from the speakers and the framed pictures all around I felt really at home. Being raised in an Italian family I have a lot of expectations when I go to Italian restaurants and I know when stuff is not particularly authentic and I found that Amici was definitely authentic.
