This small restaurant has more than just looks in its flavor, the flavors that came out of the kitchen were incredible. According to migrationpolicy.org, in Latin America, El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country and according to Statistics Canada, 39 000 Salvadorians are living in Canada. Los Planes Gourmet had the most amazing atmosphere, everything and everybody were so chill and I really enjoyed eating on the terrace.

MENU

The menu starts off with appetizers, which includes nachos, soups, dips, meats, and seafood, etc all at very reasonable prices. Secondly, come the pupusas, these are typical Salvadorian dishes that are made of corn flour ( in the form of a tortilla) with a choice of different fillings. They have 12 different options including chicken and cheese, all dressed, etc. Then there are soups, Mexican plates and grilled meats and fish. These are all entrees. And then they have trios that consist of a pupusa, a drink and a meal and if you are hungrier than I was I would recommend trying that instead. There is then extras that you can add to your plate for no more than 6$. Then it goes on to show naturally squeezed juices, coffees, and beverages. The desserts are the last on the menu, they offer cakes, churros and even empanadas with plantains and condensed milk which the waiter told us is a typical Salvadorian dessert.

NACHOS

The nacho plate was definitely a large one for 11$, and it was also very filling. There were a lot of toppings that came apart of the dish. The sour cream made everything very creamy and slightly sweet as well. The fact that it was cold in temperature added an interesting balance to all the other toppings, especially with the warm black beans. The tortilla chips were hard enough to not fall over even with the insane amount of toppings. There was less cheese than "typical" western style nachos, which I really enjoyed.

PUPUSAS

The pupusa is a typical Salvadorian dish, and I loved it so much! It was made from corn flour in the shape of a thick tortilla pancake, with chicken and cheese filling. The cheese flavor was very strong and slightly spicy. The sauces and cheese did not get soaked up by the tortilla outside which I appreciated because then the flavor of the tortilla wasn't lost on the rest of the flavors. The chicken was shredded which made the entire filling seem more like a paste and very soft.

BURRITO

The burrito was very very filling, it was almost difficult to finish the entire thing, especially with everything we had eaten beforehand, but I appreciated it because it didn't need a side dish like most other restaurants need. As for the flavor, the sauce poured on top of the burrito had a very spicy red pepper flavor, which I think matched well with the simple flavors of the avocado and rice that was in it. The onions, lettuce, and beef added a lot of cool textures and flavors. The meat was not ground like I had expected, instead, it was pieces of meat that easily tore apart with a fork. All in All, I really loved the burrito.

OVERALL

Overall this has been one of my most favorite restaurants so far, which says a lot since a lot of the restaurants I've been to have been amazing. The atmosphere, service, and most importantly food, was exceptional and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try something different.
