Seoul Chako seemed to be very popular, as it was filled with many different people, families, groups of friends, couples, etc. Korean Canadians make up one of the largest, non-European ethnic groups in Canada, according to Statistics Canada. Korean barbecue is something I recommend to everyone, even if traditional Asian cuisine is not your favorite, Korean cuisine is unique from the rest. Korean Barbeque restaurants have a grill placed at every table in order for you to cook your own prepared food just how you like it.

MENU

The menu for Seoul Chako was different than the usual ones I see, it was all you can eat, similar to La Perle. This allows you to order and reorder as many different things that you like, mixing and matching meats, veggies, sides and etc. All of this for 25$ a person. This includes appetizers, and desserts as well.

APPETIZERS

Fried Dumpling: The fried dumplings had a very crunchy outside to them, they kind of felt caramelized which gave it an odd but interesting texture to them. The meat was soft and very well seasoned and had vegetable taste infused in it. I tasted hints of carrots and celery, which is what is usually found in wonton soup. It was savory and salty, and it had hints of sweetness some times as well.

Spring Rolls: The spring rolls also had a crunchier outside and softer inside, although it was a lot less "hard" and caramelized than the dumplings. Unlike raw vegetables, the veggies in the spring roll were soft and had a very distinct saltiness to them that I really appreciated.

Kimchi: Kimchi consists of napa cabbage and radishes fermented, salted and seasoned. It was a very spicy dish, which was unusually paired with a cold temperature, it was an interesting experience.

MEATS

Chicken: For the meats and other options, they were given raw and seasoned and you grill them yourself on the grill in the table. The pieces of the chicken that were chosen are very good cuts of meat. It was very well seasoned and marinated. The chicken was super juicy and tasty along with the grilled peppers and onions.

Beef: The cuts of meat were super thin, and when cooked it was tender and soft. The beef was lightly seasoned. Pepper and onions added a nice crunch to the tenderness of the meat. Because the meat was grilled, there was a smokey flavor incorporated into the taste.

Sausage: The sausage was unexpectedly sweet and tasted a lot like honey. I found it very good and even decided to order another plate of it. The inside was soft while because it was grilled, the outside of the sausage was crunchy, which I really enjoyed because the smokiness of the grill and sweetness of the seasoning went well together.

SIDES

Rice: The rice was very plain, which I actually very much enjoyed because it went very well along with the rest of the strong flavors that were offered on the menu. It was quite filling also, which made it kind of difficult to finish. It was "sticky" therefore it was easy to eat with chopsticks, which I appreciated.

Corn: The corn was really good actually, I found it sweet and juicy, which it remained even after being charred on the grill. It matched the flavors of the meat and other veggies quite well.

Pineapple: Like the corn, the pineapple was also insanely sweet and juicy, and tasted even better when warm and grilled.

DESsERTS

Lychee jello: It seemed to be thicker than normal jello, and it was also clear which I really found interesting. There were also "slices " of what I guess was lychee. All in all, I found it really enjoyable and different from other deserts I have had.

Green tea ice cream I enjoyed the mix of the tea flavors with the ice cream texture. I would highly recommend it.

OVERALL

All in all, this was a fantastic restaurant and it is one I would definitely return to. It had an amazing atmosphere and food. If you are not into the typical Asian food I would highly recommend checking out Seoul Chako for Korean barbecue dishes.
