Talk about family atmosphere! Mexico was a family owned business for sure, seemed like a little place straight out of the country itself. It is presumed that more and more Mexicans will be immigrating to Canada in the years to come, and along with other Latin American immigrants, are being called Generation Ñ. Mexico has been the most authentic "mom and a" place that I've been too so far!

MENU

Mexico had a very interesting menu, especially the combos section. You could get 2 different meals ( enchilada, burrito, taco, etc) with refried beans and rice all for $9.99. They offered pork, beef or chicken options for your meals. There weren't as many options as you would see at a mainstream restaurant because the older woman was the only one in the kitchen and was taking her time and patience to make these amazing homemade recipes.

MEAL #1 SPEEDY GONZALES

This first dish we ordered was called the Speedy Gonzales, which was a plate of enchiladas and the same rice and beans that come with all the combos. From what I noticed, all of the tortillas seemed to be homemade as they definitely had a very different texture than store-bought ones and a different flavor. The tortilla on its own was slightly sweet and it kelp balanced out the spiciness of every dish it was used it. As for the enchiladas as a whole, I found them very tomatoey, which I believe was in the sauce. The meat was pulled part tender and shredded to the point of perfection, having the crunch and crispness of the lettuce and tomatoes on the enchilada gave a very satisfying flavor. The whole thing just melted in your mouth.

MEAL #2 CATCUS

Cactus was the name of the second combo we ordered, It came with a burrito and a quesadilla as well as the rice and beans. The burrito was covered in a thick sweet sauce. The same tender shredded chicken was mixed with the sauce and wrapped in a tortilla. The sauce kind of reminded me of barbecue sauce but a little sweeter. The entire thing was very filling.

The quesadilla used the chicken once again, but this time, the sauce it was cooked in was a lot spicier and had a hint of cheese as well. The tortilla was prepared on a pan so that the edges got crispy. The crispiness of lettuce and tomatoes on top of this also balanced out how soft the tortilla was.

The rice was very very buttery and had a different flavor than I'm used to. This one was lightly seasoned so it paired well with the other sauces that came on the plate. The refried beans were so buttery and soft, I loved them! I normally don't love beans as I feel like they have an odd texture but because they had been refried it was a lot softer, more like a paste and pretty much melted in your mouth. It left an outstanding taste.

OVERALL

Clearly shown by this picture, we really enjoyed the food. There were so many different flavors to experience and the atmosphere of the place was also very interesting as it kind of made me feel as if I was at someone's house and they were cooking out of their home kitchen. I would for sure recommend this place, I cannot begin to explain how tasty the food was, and if you want to start trying many different foods for an affordable price then be sure to check it out.
