This restaurant is owned Andre Campbell who was raised in the Caribbean until the age of 10 before coming to the West Island. "I found it difficult to find a taste of home. And one of the opportunity to share the amazing Caribbean foods with other West Islanders" said Andre. So Andre and his father opened Caribbean Tasty Treats and I'm glad they did! This had some of the best food I think I have ever eaten. According to statistics Canada between the years 1996 and 2001 the number of people who put the Caribbean as their origins increased by 11%.
MENU

The menu offers a wide variety of fish, meats and even vegetarian options. All of the main meals come with a salad and then you can order other side dishes such as fried plantain, rice, and beans with gravy or even jerk chicken wings. You can also choose from three different kinds of Jamaican patties and a soup. Lastly, they offered dessert which I didn't have the chance to eat but they have carrot cake, potato pudding, the black cake which is a Jamaican dish and ice cream. I don't see anything on the menu that was over $16 and it was great to get very authentic food for a reasonable price
APPETIZERS

So the first appetizer that we ordered was the Beef patty. It was very well seasoned as I would learn that a lot of Caribbean food is spicy. The pepper that was in it had a little bit of a kick to it but not too much that it was overpowering the taste of the other seasonings and the beef itself which had a really nice texture. All of this combined for a great appetizer that I really enjoyed.
BEEF PATTY

FRIED PLANTAIN
The second appetizer we got was the fried plantains. They had a soft texture and they were a mix of both sweet and slightly salty. On their own, they did give a really nice taste but my personal preference was to eat it alongside the chicken curry as the spiciness sweetness and Savouriness all balanced out perfectly.
MEAL #1 CHICKEN CURRY

The first meal was called chicken curry and I would recommend it to anybody who likes spicy foods with a lot of flavors. The chicken was very very tender and melted in your mouth and pulled apart very easily while the curry itself was not too spicy. And that was also cut potatoes and carrots mixed in with the curry. Other than the salad this meal came with rice and beans which reminded me a lot of Mexican rice and beans but with fewer beans. Altogether gave the entire plate a really nice flavor.
MEAL #2 CHICKEN ROTI

The last meal that we ordered was the chicken roti. This had the same tender pull apart melt in your mouth chicken as the curry and the big tortillas seem to soak up a lot of the seasonings which made the entire experience even more flavorful. When you would bite into the tortilla and all the rest of the juices on your taste buds all at once. It was also potatoes and chickpeas that were super soft and melted in your mouth. Ultimately this entire dish reminded me of Mexican burritos. This also came with the same salad as the chicken curry.
OVERALL
Overall I would highly highly recommend checking out this restaurant as you were greeted with great people, an amazing atmosphere, and fantastic food. There are a plenty of things to choose from! I'm definitely going back.
